Fatal

Your name falling from my lips

like a prayer, I chant it, my eyelids

droop shut and I see you,

I see your smile, like a majestic sunrise,

it lights up my soul. Tears of joy,

of longing, of wonder flowing like

a thousand rivers from my eyes,

I reach out, brush my fingers

against your skin. Pain mingles with pleasure,

they play their duet in my blood;

Suddenly I find, I’m flying,

I soar up in the skies and I dare

I dare to brush my lips against yours

And I know what it feels like to swallow fire,

I feel your heat scorching me, I burn,

Burn, burn from within and it’s such

an agony, but oh so exquisite.

I drown, drown, drown  deep in you,

I fall in ashes from the sky.

Your flames never stop licking at me,

I know, I know sweetheart, you were the Flame

and drawn to you, I was the Moth and ours was

a love that was beautiful, that was fatal

but in my aching heart I know, I know

it was worth it all.
